top What is the EPIC Industry Training Board?

The EPIC Industry Training Board is a not-for-profit industry led incorporated association serving and working in partnership with Victoria's Electrotechnology, Printing and Information Technology &Telecommunications industries.

The EPIC ITB has been declared as an Industry Training Board under the provisions of the Vocational Education and Training Act (1990). The EPIC ITB represents these Victorian industries at State and national advisory levels for vocational education and training (VET). The EPIC ITB works in close collaboration with National and State and Territory-based ITAB networks, which have an Australia wide role to promote and inform stakeholders about VET implementation. The collaboration of the EPIC ITB in these networks is a key element of its strategic role that gives it added capacity to provide information and support for Victorian enterprises and RTOs.

The EPIC ITB, through its industry-led Board acts as a conduit for industry between Government, Government agencies and other key training stakeholders including RTOs. The EPIC ITB identifies the needs of industry; informs and influences policy developers and funding bodies and ensures that industry is well informed of the benefits of participation in the national VET system.

The EPIC ITB facilitates the industry's access to the VET sector and ensures the sector is aware of the industry's skill development needs.

In relation to its service agreement with the Office of Training and Tertiary Education, the EPIC ITB:

  1. Develops and maintains industry networks to support the identification of priorities for VET, promotion of training, better links between training providers and enterprises and involvement in innovation initiatives and Specialist Centres;

  2. Supports the national and State training policy directions including training product development (Training Packages and local curriculum) and implementation of policies;

  3. Provides input into and validates research.
