As a not-for-profit organization, EPIC Industry Training Board is funded by the Victorian State Government to undertake a number of key functions. One of which is the development of an annual Industry Skills Needs Report. The focus of the 2009 Industry Skills Needs Report is to:

a) Describe any major developments in key changes drivers shaping your industry (Electrotechnology, Electricity Supply, Printing, Information Technology, Telecommunications and Gas) which have arisen or significantly intensified over the last 12 months.

b) Describe the responses being made by businesses and industry organizations to these developments.

c) Identify emerging and critical skills implications of these developments and industry responses.

d) Identify the training demand and delivery consequences of addressing these skills needs

Volume 2, February 2009

The EPIC Industry Training Board strives to work in partnership with Victoria’s Electrotechnology (including Electricity Supply), Printing, Information Technology & Telecommunications and Gas industries.

Our key function to be the primary source of advice on all aspects of training for these industries.

EPIC Industry Training Board is currently conducting surveys on skills shortages for employers in the following industry sectors:

From the results we receive, EPIC ITB will embark on identifying skill shortages across all its sectors, how these shortages impact on your business; and provide real-time industry specific data to the State Government that will provide early warnings of the changing conditions and demand for training by your industry. Our key function is to be the primary source of advice on training for these industries.

Electricity Supply Industry: Looking towards the next 10 years? 
Forum 2009
The purpose of this Forum is to engage members of the Electricity Supply Industry to discuss the issues that are currently affecting their businesses; such as the ageing workforce; climate change and retention of their current workforce.
The Forum will also provide attendees an opportunity to experience and discuss the various training delivery strategies and innovations that are available to them.
The Forum will be held in July 2009.
More details will be provided in the coming issues of this newsletter.
Victorian ICT Educators (VICTE)

As part of the ICT Skills Forum 2008, an opportunity was provided to trainers from public RTO’s, private providers and industry trainers to look at developing a teacher forum which will provide members an opportunity to discuss and share information of delivery strategies; best models for assessment; professional development and provide an forum that can influence the content of Training Packages. 
The first meeting of the teachers committee or Victorian ICT Educators (VICTE) Forum will be held in March 2009. 
EPIC ITB will provide secretariat support for the first three meetings, following that it is expected that the committee will become self functioning with its own elected secretariat and chairperson.
