Electricity Supply Industry Forum 2009
As part of the Forum, some of Victoria’s leading private and public providers displayed their 
innovative training and gave the attendees a chance to discuss current and future training 
opportunities. Providers included RMIT, NMIT, GippsTAFE, Clean Energy Council, Optec Pty Ltd, Box Hill Institute, Rail Skills Centre and Universal Technical Training Services.
On 7th July, EPIC Industry Training Board held its inaugural “Power Forward” Electricity Supply Industry Forum 2009. The event was attended by over 175 delegates from the Generation, Transmission, Distribution, Rail and Renewable Energy Industries.

Sponsored by the organizations that contribute to the EPIC ITB Victorian Electricity Supply 
Industry Council, this unique industry forum had not been undertaken in Victoria before and its principle purpose was to engage members of the Electricity Supply Industry to discuss the issues that are currently affecting their businesses; such as the ageing workforce; climate change and; retention of their current workforce.

The Forum was opened by the Hon. Minister Peter Bachelor, Minister for Energy and Resources.  

“The energy sector is a critical industry in Victoria and the sector’s people and the skills they have are vital to its success, sustainability and continued evolution. Now more than ever we need people with skills to manage the transition and we need to equip this generation and the next with the skills they need for the future. Forums like the one being hosted by EPIC Industry 
Training Board today are a valuable opportunity for representatives from across the power

ICP05 Printing & Graphic Arts Training Package Enhancements Update
The research and analysis stage of the Printing and Graphic Arts Training Package 
Enhancement was undertaken on behalf of Innovation and Business Skills Australia (IBSA) by the Electrotechnology, Printing, Information and Communication Industry Training Board (EPIC ITB). This stage has now been completed and the Stage 1 report signed off by the National 
Project Reference Group (NPRG).

The Stage One report provides an overview of the findings and the recommendations that will inform the Stage 2 of the project. Stage 2 is the development stage which will include the 
enhancement of the package to ensure that it is relevant and up-to-date with industries needs.

It is expected that the outcomes of Stage 2 will result in a submission to the National Quality Council for the endorsement of an enhanced ICP05 Printing and Graphic Arts Training Package in November 2009.

Industry Surveys
Victorian ICT Educators (VICTE) Forum
A second meeting of the VICTE was held on 23rd July 2009.
Over 26 delegates 
attended the Forum from both streams of study -Information Technology  and 
Telecommunications.
Areas of discussion were focused upon the ICT02 and ICA05 Training Packages and an 
overview of the Digital & Broadband Rollout.
