The Victorian Training Awards are one of the ways the Victorian Government rewards outstanding achievements and innovations in vocational education and training. 
The Awards recognise the valuable contribution of apprentices, trainees, students, teachers, employers, training providers and industry in building a world-class vocational education and training system in Victoria.

Nominations for the 2009 Victorian Training Awards are now open and information and nomination forms are available, please click here. 

The winners of the Victorian Training Awards (with the exception of the Victorian VET Client Service/Support Award and the Victorian Teacher/Trainer of the Year Award) may represent Victoria as finalists at the Australian Training Awards to be held in Canberra in November 2009. 

The awards
Thirteen Awards are presented each year, delivering a pathway of achievement that spans across the vocational education and training system. The Awards are:
Victorian School-based Apprentice of the Year Award
Victorian Apprentice of the Year Award
Victorian Koorie Student of the Year Award
Victorian Trainee of the Year Award
Victorian Vocational Student of the Year Award
Victorian Teacher/Trainer of the Year Award
Victorian VET Client Service/Support Excellence Award
Victorian Large Training Provider of the Year Award
Victorian Small Training Provider of the Year Award
Victorian Training Initiative of the Year Award
Victorian VET in Schools Excellence Award
Victorian Employer of the Year Award
Victorian Small Business of the Year Award

Each winner receives a trophy, and 10 award winners, including each student winner receive $10,000.
Key dates for the 2009 awards program are: 
Nominations open: 10 March 2009
Application seminars: 30 March – 2 April 2009
Nominations close: 15 May 2009
Judging commences: 18 May 2009
Finalists notified: 24 June 2009
Judging completed: 13 July 2009
Presentation Dinner: 20 August 2009

2009 Application writing seminars
To assist applicants in writing their applications, there will be seminars held in Melbourne, Ballarat, Shepparton and Newborough. The seminars cover the application process, past winner experiences and tips for writing winning applications.

The first application seminar was held last year and was useful and informative for all who attended. Two attendees went on to win awards at both the state and national levels.
