Job Opportunity - Power Station Operators with Alcoa Australia

The Anglesea Power Station began operating in 1969 and operates at world class efficiency levels for born coal fired power stations, supplying approximately 40 percent of the power required by Alcoa’s Point Henry aluminium smelter in Geelong.  The Power Station is an integrated facility which involves the operation of a 150 MW Thermal Power Station and associated open cut brown coal mine.

We are seeking an experienced Power Station Operator to become an integral member of our team that supports the safe and efficient operation of the Power Station in order to maintain a cost effective supply of power, within established safety requirements.

You will be responsible for co-ordinating and executing all operational aspects of the power station including start-up and shutdown under all conditions; provide plant fault analysis, condition testing, monitoring and adjustment.  Ideally, you will have completed a Power Station Operators Diploma or have recognised qualifications for boiler and turbine operation or equivalent pressure vessels and rotating machinery.  You must be able to contribute to and work effectively as a member of a work team, with sound communication and interpersonal skills.  With demonstrated problem solving skills, and the ability to work under pressure, you will thrive working in a busy and dynamic environment.
