Rail Skills Centre
In order to meet the needs of the Victorian Transport Plan, the Train and Tram Industry is addressing the implications of greater demand for industry specific skills, and aging workforce and an expanding infrastructure. The Rail Skills Centre Victoria is a key initiative to meet these challenges. It provides a unique off-line training facility where trainers and trainees can utilize a combination of excellent classroom facilities with extensive industry specific infrastructure.
The on-site infrastructure is being developed to include:
- 450 metres of train track and overhead
- 350 metres of tram overhead
- Various signaling systems
- Pedestrian crossings
- Boom gates
- A power traction substation
There are six classrooms able to accommodate 18 trainees, each with inbuilt AV facilities and short term trainer’s office accommodation and storage facilities.
